The leadership of the Student Union Government, led by Comr. Afufu Anthony has seen to the installation of brand new television sets in all halls of  residence and also satellite television (DSTV ) Decoders and subscription.

Mr and Miss UNICAL 2017, MEET THE FINALISTS

The 2017 Edition of Mr and Miss UNICAL has been underway, with lots of activities that has put the contestants to their best.

The event powered by the Office of The Director of Socials in collaboration with

Fidelity Bank, Sel D’Afrique, Teddies and KampusAreaBlog.

1. Bisong Treasure Okibe,19 year old student of Medicine and Surgery who has a passion for modelling.   Hobbies Reading, singing, talking, motivational chats with friends, dancing, traveling, trying new things. 

On what Blessing hopes to achieve through #MMU2017: Blessing hopes to achieve great success in becoming a great leader with the help of AIESEC, I should be able to impact and improve others,  I should achieve the zeal of being focused in life and never giving up no matter the circumstances. I will be able to discuss on my SDGs wherever or whenever I’m told to, I will also improve on my modelling skills, learn new dance steps, learn how to be strong, bold, confident. And effective time management.

2. Anna Mbua Obi, 18 year old contestant who loves singing and writing poems.

Role Model: Jesus Christ.

Philosophy:  Yesterday’s dream is today’s reality, make everyday count.

What do you hope to achieve through #MMU2017? When I become Miss UNICAL, I’ll strive to utilize this platform using it as a steppimg stone to achieve my dreams and while doing this be a role model and mirror to those around me.

3. Henry Okimmonye, 22 year old student of Medicine and Surgery who loves reading, writing, listening to music and playing basketball.

Role Model: Dr. Strive Masiyiwa(Kenyan)

Philosophy: We don’t get off life trophies today for yesterday’s victories.

 

4. Mfonobong Essien Morgan, 20 year old Vocational education student who has a strong fashion to be a fashion illustrator.
Hobbies; singing, designing, dancing and cooking
What do you hope to achieve through #MMU2017Through Mr and Miss unical platform my greatest achievement won’t just rest with the crown but to implement my SDG 10 in our very own society with the support of AIESEC.

UNICAL Convocation: Information to Graduands

University of Calabar, UNICAL  30th Convocation Ceremony: Important information to graduands up to and including the 2015/2016 sessions.

UNICAL Important information to graduands

Following the publication of the Univeristy of Calabar, UNICAL 30th Convocation Ceremony Programme of Events, the authorities of the institution release some important information to all Graduands of the institution as regards the coming event.

Academic Gowns

Gowns are to be obtained from Faculty Officers on the payment of a deposit of 5,000.00 (Five Thousand Naira only). A refund of 1,000.00 (one Thousand, naira only) will be made on return of the gown. Gowns not returned by March 14 2017 will attract a fine of 1,000.00 (one Thousand naira only) per day. Defaulters will have their Certificates withheld or and reported to their places of NYSC primary assignment.

For Graduate School graduands, the following will apply:

  • Outright Purchase of Academic Gowns:
  • Ph.D New Gown = 35,000.00each Old Gown = 30,000 each
  • Masters Outright purchase = 25,000
  • Hiring of Graduate Gowns Post Graduate Diplomas (PGD) = 10,000.00 only Masters = 15,000.00 only

Invitation Cards to Parents/Guardians

Two invitation cards per graduand will be issued by the Faculty Officer. Each Graduand is entitled to two guests.

PROCESSION

  • Graduands are to be fully robbed and seated at Abraham Ordia Sports stadium by 9.30am. Graduands who are not robbed will not be allowed into the convocation venue.
  • Nobody including graduands and their parents/guardians will be allowed into the convocation venue after 10am.
  • Only accredited photographers will be allowed into the stadium
  • All small scale business operators, including photographers, video operators, food/drink vendors, clothes/shoes retailers etc wishing to do business on campus on the said day are to pay N2,000.00 only to any Commercial bank with UNICAL CBN Remita A/C no 0050217461078 from Monday 6th March, 2017 obtain a teller and forward same to the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin) for the issuance of receipts for such payments.
  • Other interested business operators will pay between N50,000 – N250,000.00 as the case maybe into the aforementioned account.
  • All vehicles entering the campus on that day will pay N500.00 only as permit/parking fee. Members of the University of Calabar Community will only be allowed entry on presentation of a valid UNICAL ID card. All are please advised to comply to avoid embarrassment.

The University of Calabar administration looks forward to welcoming all her well-wishers to the Convocation ceremonies.

PHOTOS FROM THE MALABOR WORLD CUP OPENING CEREMONY…

The Malabor World Cup (MAWOC) has offically  begun.

The biggest Football Tournament in the University of Calabar. The competition is named after Hostel residence Malabo Republic, where Teams are formed and named after any Country. The tournament is held in the same fashion as the world cup, and so is the trophy a replica of the prestigious World Cup, yet to be won by any African country.

The event is billed to run from Saturday 25th February to Saturday 18th March 2017.

Very few things could be better than being present at the Abraham Ordia Stadium for the 2017 MAWOC on a bright sunday evening…
