Students come out to do it the Old Fashion Way…

As part of efforts to mark this year’s Rivers State University SUG week, a line up of events was rolled out with the Jean Carnival on Monday, Youth summit on Wednesday, Old school on Thursday, Rag day on Friday, Cultural day on Saturday, Thanksgiving on Sunday.
Students of RSU turned up in their massive numbers which increased as the week ran down. There was fun, music, dance, stage performances, fashion runway, comedy, etc.
Thursday, being Old School day was no where close to normal, as it was more than colourful; surprising to say the least as students were already dressed up the old fashion way by 7:00 am. A walk through campus and one would see proudly showcasing old school style, with humorous costumes- crossbelts, shorts, wigs, ‘fela’ trousers, socks, etc.
A parade was done outside, within and around school and then the Grand Finale kicked off by 1:00 pm in front of the NDDC hostel; where there was an Old School fashion runway, and then the floor was open for Old school music and dance, Old school band performance, Old school couple dance, and the hit which was ‘wooing a lady’ in the old school manner. People from within and outside RSU, including students from other schools witnessed the event. What a loss if you were MIA.
We interviewed some ‘oldschool-ers’ and a majority of them all confessed that this has been the best so far.
