CALABAR PRODUCES 2 FIRST CLASS MEDICAL LABORATORY
SCIENTISTS, INDUCTS 80
The Department of Medical Laboratory Science, University of Calabar
has inducted 80 new medical laboratory scientists into the prestigious
medical laboratory science profession.
In an induction/oath taking
ceremony held at the University of Calabar International Conference
Centre, University of Calabar, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Zana Akpagu,
who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof
Florence Obi, described the occasion as an epoch making one. She
described medical laboratory science as a noble profession and
charged the scientists to represent the institution well and ensure to
put into practice what they have learnt in the course of their study.
Earlier, the Registrar/CEO, Medical Laboratory Science Council of
Nigeria, Mr. Tosan Erhabor described the occasion as a
memorable one especially for the inductees. He congratulated the
inductees whose effort gave a meaning to the occasion.
2 FIRST CLASS MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTISTS.
2 newly inducted medical laboratory scientists graduated with First
Class degrees. Nehemiah Emono Dankano, an indigene of Taraba
State emerged the overall Best Graduating Student with a CGPA of
4.78 at the induction ceremony while Usungise Peace Bassey, an
indigene of Akwa Ibom State emerged second Best Graduating Student
also with a first class degree with a CGPA of 4.57. In his response on
behalf of the inductees, the Overall Best Graduating student, Mr.
Nehemiah Emono Dankano urged fellow graduands to put the
knowledge garnered into work. He thanked parents, lecturers,
Department of Medical Laboratory Science and the school for giving
them the conducive atmosphere to learn.
Highlight of the occasion were oath taking by the inductees,
presentation of practicing licence by the Registrar/CEO, Medical
Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, Presentation of awards with
Nehemiah Emono Dankano winning Best Graduating Student’s award,
Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria award, Best Graduating
student award for Chemical Pathology. Usungise Peace Bassey won
Best Graduating Student award from Haematology, Dr. Usanga’s
award while Ntem Patience Komommoh won Best graduating student
award from Medical Microbiology, Udofia Nicholas won Prof. Lydia
Abia-Bassey award in Medical Mycology. HOD’s Outstanding
Innovative Award went Alaribe Anthony Akabueze while Uduak Bassey
won Entrepreneurship award.
