SUG: Dean Of Students Inaugurate CUECO

The Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Felix Akpan, yesterday inaugurated the Calabar University Electoral Commission (CUECO).

CUECO, the commission responsible for the conduct of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) elections was yesterday shown a green light to duty at the University of Calabar New Senate Chamber.

The 10-man commission whose tenure of office is one year has the Director of CES, Dr James Okpiliya as chairman, Barry. Jonas Abuo of the school Legal Unit as Deputy Chairman and Mr Blessing Igbo of the Students’ Affairs Division as Secretary.Calabar University Electoral Commission

Other members of the commission are; Mrs. Benytta Ikpeme from Registrars Office, Mr. Okon Usani from the Security Unit, Dr. Nsima Essien from Hall Warden Representatives, Comr. Ubi Onen of Faculty of Law, Comr. Ogweshi Mustapha Ikweh of Faculty of Law, Comr. (Ms) Fatima Simbiat of the Department of Public Health, and Comr. Agbor Cassidy Eta of the Department of Curr. and Teaching.

One of commission’s members and former presidential candidate in last year’s SUG elections, Comr. Ubi Onen who briefed newsmen after the ceremony said the commission will be fair and sincere in her services to the Vice Chancellor and Nigerian Students. Howthat, the school management has no personal interest whatsoever in who-becomes-what as far students business is concerned.

According to unconfirmed sources within the newly inaugurated commission, the election is billed for 17th March, 2017; a week after convocation.
