Violent Protest: Students Raze down a Private Institution

Kampusareablog had written a post on rise in violent protest recently. Information reaching us is that student unrest had begun on Sunday evening by some aggrieved students of  Southern Nigerian Institute of Innovative technology in Ifewara, Osun state.

According to the students:

Some students said the students turned violent on heating that some of their courses were not accredited by the National Board for Technical Education.

And according to one ofem this sad news was disclosed during their matriculation last Friday.

The female hostel was evacuatevacuated and reports of stolen items by some of the students leading the process and then finally the block was set ablaze.

This sad experience continued Sunday evening through Monday, until Police force was at the school to restore peace.

According to Institution Authorities:  Dr Kolawole Chrriswealth, the Chairman Governing Council of SNIIT, said the students had been ignorant and lacked understanding of their choice of prpgrammes., adding that the Institution gave students a rare opputunity of sitting for professional exams at no extra tution, but only for the examination fee.

He however denied that courses offered were not accredited by NABTE, but that students were only encouraged to sit for professional exams like ICAN, NIM e.t.c so as to graduate with diplomas and professional certificates, and be at advantage to their colleagues in other institutions, although the offer was option.

Dr kolawole was absent however to assess the damage.

Students from various instituitons are encouraged to be law abiding and all grievances should be laid forward in decorum and shun vandalism.

Wish safety to all students in various campuses. Peace!!✌✌✌✌✌
